1998 was the first year the Boxster received placement on Car and Driver magazine’s annual Ten Best list, and continued to place annually through 2003. Porsche also realized that if they could build more Boxsters they would sell more and this lead to the development of a relationship with Finnish manufacturer Valmet to make the vehicles in Uusikaupunki, Finland. One can tell where each car was made by checking the eleventh character in the VIN; if it is a U or S it was built in Uusikaupunki or Stuttgart, respectively.
